Experienced OS source code (Windows XPWindows XP and Windows Server 2003, a leak via the Internet, in addition to other Microsoft operating systems.
The source code for online operating systems was leaked as a 42.9GB torrent file on 4chan, a board for spreading anonymous messages over the Internet that is frequented by trolls and extremist groups.
The content of this torrent file includes the source code for many old Microsoft operating systems, such as: Windows 2000, Windows NT 3.5 and 4, Windows XP and Windows Service 2003.
The files also contained the source code for the first operating system for the Xbox (Xbox) console, the MS-DOS system in versions 3.30 and 6, and the source code for many components of the Windows 10 operating system.
While Microsoft has not confirmed the leak yet, several Windows experts – who analyzed the files – said that the files were correct, but they also played down the importance of the leak.
It is noteworthy that many of the files that were leaked this week had already been leaked years ago, and it appears that the leak is a collection of previous elements. For example, the source code for some components of Windows 10 was leaked in 2017, while files for the Xbox and Windows NT systems were leaked earlier this year.
The only new elements that appear to have been leaked for the first time this week are believed to be the source code for the operating systems: (Windows XP), (Windows Server 2003) and (Windows 200).
The leaker of the new files said: Many of the operating system source code packages were stored and were exchanged privately between data brokers over the past years. But ZDNet It was reported by IT experts that the source code for the operating systems was not entirely private, but merely proprietary. They also believe that the files were leaked from academia.
It is noteworthy that Microsoft has always provided access to the source code for its operating systems to governments around the world, for the purpose of security audits, and for academic teams for the purpose of scientific research.
