ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra: A Rebranded ROG Phone 8 Pro?
ASUS has been known for its critically acclaimed Zenfone lineup, which offers great Android flagship devices in a compact form factor. Fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Zenfone 11, but recent leaks suggest that ASUS might have a surprise in store. Renders of the Zenfone 11 Ultra have surfaced, and what’s interesting is that they come directly from ASUS itself.
The leaked renders were discovered by Redditor Td3v1l, who found them inside the latest firmware of the ASUS ROG Phone 8. It’s not surprising to see similarities between the Zenfone 11 Ultra and the ROG Phone 8, as the ROG Phone lineup has been moving closer to the Zenfone series in terms of design. However, these renders reveal a rather unsightly device, a departure from the sleek look of its predecessor, the Zenfone 10.
One notable detail that can be gleaned from the leaked renders is the name of the device – ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra. Additionally, a basic spec sheet was also found within the firmware. According to this leaked information, the Zenfone 11 Ultra will feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. The display is expected to have LTPO technology, allowing for a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz in certain games.
Under the hood, the Zenfone 11 Ultra is rumored to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. In terms of cameras, the device is said to sport a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with gimbal OIS as its primary shooter, accompanied by a 13MP ultrawide lens with a 120-degree field of view and a 32MP telephoto camera with OIS for 3x optical zoom. On the front, there could be a 32MP RGBW sensor for selfies.
The leaked spec sheet also reveals that the Zenfone 11 Ultra will house a 5,500mAh battery, which is expected to support 65W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Notably, the device is rumored to retain the 3.5mm headphone jack and dual stereo speakers, which will be a welcome feature for many users.
Interestingly, the specifications of the Zenfone 11 Ultra bear a striking resemblance to those of the ROG Phone 8 Pro. The leaked images of the Zenfone 11 Ultra also showcase a design language that is quite similar to its gaming-oriented counterpart. It appears that ASUS might be repackaging the ROG Phone 8 Pro with slightly toned-down specs and a more vibrant external housing to cater to a wider audience.
While the existence of the Zenfone 11 Ultra has been confirmed through these leaks, it doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be a regular Zenfone 11. Some leaks of the Zenfone 11 have also surfaced, suggesting that ASUS might be aiming to please all market segments by offering both a compact phone and an Ultra phone, which is essentially a rebranded gaming phone.
As we eagerly await an official announcement from ASUS, it’s clear that the Zenfone 11 Ultra has generated quite a buzz among smartphone enthusiasts. With its powerful specifications and intriguing design, it has the potential to make a significant impact in the Android flagship market. Whether it lives up to the expectations set by its predecessor remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure – ASUS is not holding back when it comes to innovation and pushing boundaries in the smartphone industry.
