Sony has been very secretive about the exact specifications of the PlayStation 5 Pro, but it seems that they have now been leaked online.
A spec sheet – apparently from someone who already owns the PlayStation 5 Pro – is making the rounds on the internet (via Indoor games). Just like the regular PS5, the Pro has an 8-core Zen 2 CPU, the GPU has 16.7 teraflops and it has sixteen gigabytes of RAM (GDDR6) that developers can use. Two additional gigabytes of RAM (GDDR5) are reserved for the system.
We now have a clearer idea of how powerful the PS5 Pro is compared to the original model. We see 16.7 teraflops against ten teraflops, 2 gigabytes of additional RAM and a power supply that consumes up to 390 watts against 350 watts. There is also support for Wi-Fi 7. On the PlayStation 5 this is still Wi-Fi 6.
Images of previously unknown activities are also appearing online. For example, the console has a function to improve the image quality of PlayStation 4 games. It’s not yet known how this will work, but Bloodborne images are already appearing online that look a little better than what we’re used to.
The console can also take screenshots in 8K quality. Finally, leaked videos of the console’s interior show that the CMOS battery can be replaced. That’s good news for future proofing the device. If the battery is empty, you still have the option of replacing it.
The PlayStation 5 Pro will be released on November 7. The upgraded console costs eight hundred euros in the Netherlands. You don’t get a disc with that. You can buy it separately for 120 euros and you also have to buy the stand to put it directly separately for thirty euros, if you want.
