AirPods 3 design leaked on first photo

The photo was posted on the Japanese blog MacOtakara, a household name when it comes to Apple rumors. In the picture we see one AirPod where the silicone earplugs are not yet on. What is particularly striking is how the design of this new AirPod can hardly be distinguished from the AirPods Pro.

That ties in with a rumor that appeared recently. Apple would plan to change the design of the AirPods in 2021. The regular AirPods would switch to the AirPods Pro design, while the AirPods Pro will get a design that fills your entire ear and that no longer has protruding sticks.

AirPods and AirPods Pro get a new design

This makes the AirPods 3 more ‘Pro’ than expected, although they will not receive noise reduction. Apple would work on improved battery life and replaceable earplugs for these AirPods, just like the Pros had last year.

The question is when Apple will present these two new AirPods. It seems impossible that they will be revealed in 2020. The company only has Tuesday next week an Apple event are planned, where we get to see the first Apple Silicon Macs. AirPods are not expected to be back in the spotlight until the first quarter of 2021.
