However, it should not arrive on the market until the spring of 2025
The cheapest Apple electronic device is the AirTag smart locator, which costs CZK 990 including VAT. Apple introduced it in April 2021 and immediately after that it became a big hit. Recently, there is talk of a second generation. When should she arrive and what new things should she be able to do?
AirTag 2 in two years
Speculation about AirtTag 2 (tentative, unconfirmed name) was sparked by Apple’s favorite unannounced expert, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He says that Apple should introduce the new generation of its locator either at the end of 2024 or at the beginning of 2025. Kuo specifically mentions that the mass production of this device should start between October and December 2024, i.e. in a year and a half.
What new features should AirTag 2 bring? Of course, a modified design is offered. In the current generation, all AirTags look the same, but you can slip them into suitable cases, covers or holders.

Ming-Chi Kuo also expects the deployment of the new U2 chip, which will improve the quality of ultra-wide band (UWB) search services and bring wider integration into the Vision Pro smart glasses system. For example, the glasses could show the way to the AirTag right in your apartment. On the street, you could then see people’s icons of their own AirTags.
Unfortunately, at the moment it is not clear what the new generation of AirTag will look like, nor what functions it will offer and how it will differ from the previous generation. Competing devices can, for example, measure the temperature or humidity of the air in the room. The question is which way Apple will go.
However, the question of price is also interesting, because AirTag 1st generation was sold from 890 CZK per piece, later the price increased to 990 CZK including VAT. The new AirTag could understandably come with a higher price tag, for example around 1,200 CZK, but it would still be one of the cheapest full-fledged products that Apple offers on its e-shop.
