Jakarta –
Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Company (MFTB) has leaked images of the new-looking Super Great Truck. The plan is for the heavy class truck to take to the stage at the Japan Mobility Show, Bight Sight, Tokyo, Wednesday (25/10/2023).
In teaser shared by Fuso, it appears that the Super Great Truck has adopted the latest black belt design. As is known, this Super Great Truck has been without a cosmetic refresh for six years, since it first made its debut in 2017 in Hong Kong.
Not much information has been provided. The exterior teaser also highlights the LED light design. On the other hand, the Fuso Super Great Truck appears to have undergone slight revisions to the roof of the head, which seems wider.
Is the technology getting more sophisticated? MFTBC aims to bring Level 4 autonomous driving technology to the FUSO market by leveraging collaborative development and shared expertise within the Daimler Group.
As is known, the Fuso Super Great Truck received advanced safety features, Active Drive Assist 2 and Emergency Stop Assist in June 2021. This technology was later also installed on the Mercedes-Benz Actros.
By installing Emergency Stop Assist on the new Super Great, MFTBC was able to advance level 2 automated driving support technology.
Apart from the Lane Keep Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control features, the Super Great Truck truck driver is supported by new technology that detects anomalies in steering wheel activity. So when the steering wheel remains inactive for 60 seconds, – Active Drive Assist 2 condition is active, the system will issue a warning on the dashboard monitor as well as an audio alarm, while reducing speed and stopping the vehicle in the same lane.
Active Sideguard Assist 1.0, a first for trucks in Japan, has also been installed on the Super Great Truck. It improves accident prevention on left turns with a damage mitigating braking system.
How it works Active Sideguard Assist 1.0 will alert the driver with lights when the radar detects an object on the left side of the vehicle, which tends to be a blind spot for drivers. The feature also sounds an alarm when the steering wheel is turned to the left or the left turn signal is activated.
Apart from the audio visual warning, there is also a collision mitigation braking system which reduces speed and stops the vehicle emergencyly when it detects a risk of collision with an object moving parallel to the vehicle.
Well, about what technology will be installed in this Super Great Truck?
It is known that the Super Great Truck is not yet sold in Indonesia. This heavy-duty truck last appeared at the 2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).
At that time, Fuso brought Super Great with V Spider frills. This concept truck attracted attention because it has a unique design, namely the many crane arms like the robots in the Transformers movie.
PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors (KTB) as the official distributor of Fuso vehicles in Indonesia is currently only selling in the light duty segment via Canter. Then the Fighter is relied on for medium duty and tractor heads.

One thing that will be in the spotlight is the eCanter with the latest updates. The electric truck will be displayed with a tipper or tipper. This type of truck with an open bed is usually used to transport large quantities of goods that can be scattered, such as sand, soil, minerals, etc.
This Japanese manufacturer has prepared eCanter technology with a tipper that allows the addition of a take off device (ePTO). This means that the eCanter with a tipper can be lifted and lowered via a hydraulic system whose power source is taken from the engine. As a result, the process of loading and moving truck materials can be easier.
On the same occasion, MFTBC will introduce electric waste trucks. MFTBC said the eCanter garbage truck can blend into the urban environment. The design is futuristic, has no emissions when running, minimal noise, and prevents unwanted dust buildup.
Furthermore, MFTBC also showcased a battery swap station for the eCanter electric truck. As is known, battery charging time is still an issue in the world of commercial transportation. So MFTBC and Ample Inc are collaborating on an electric truck battery swap pilot project, using the latest eCanter models.
The two companies will equip the eCanter with modular batteries that can be automatically swapped at battery swap stations. The battery exchange process is targeted to take 5 minutes.
