Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – United States (US) is likely to start vaccination in mid-December or the end of the month. This was revealed in secret government documents viewed CNN International, as quoted Wednesday (2/12/2020).
In the Operation Warp Speed document, it is stated that the first shipment of the Covid-19 Pfizer vaccine will be delivered on December 15, 2020 and the first shipment of the Moderna vaccine will be sent on December 22.
This document was given to US state governors before a phone call with Vice President Mike Pence on Monday (30/11/2020).
However, this distribution date is still subject to a decision by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Pfizer submitted a permit for emergency use of its Covid-19 vaccine to the FDA on November 20, 2020, while Moderna on November 30, 2020.
An independent committee on vaccines from the FDA will meet on December 10 to review the vaccine clinical trial data provided by Pfizer. After that, FD will decide whether to give permission or not.
The committee will then meet again on December 17 to review the clinical trial data for the Moderna vaccine.
The document revealed that this December Pfizer will produce 22.5 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, while Moderna has 18 million doses. This vaccination requires two doses of vaccine per person.
For your information, Operation Warp Speed is a program launched by the US government to accelerate research and discovery of the Covid-19 vaccine. They are injecting some funds into pharmaceutical companies to make vaccines and put the US first.
Pfizer and Moderna have completed their final clinical trials in the US. As a result, these two vaccines were 94% more effective in preventing the body from being infected with the Covid-19 virus.
