According to CDA party chairman Marnix van Rij, Pieter Omtzigt has stated this himself. On Friday and Saturday there was frequent contact with Omtzigt about his internal document with harsh criticism of the party, which was published by The Limburger. As a result of that disclosure, the politician from Twente decided to cancel his membership. On Saturday he communicated that decision to Van Rij in an ’emotional conversation’, according to the interim chairman.
Omtzigt is said to have said about the leaked memo: ‘Unfortunately, Marnix, someone from the circle with whom I shared the document, sent it to the press.’
