Princess Märtha Louise’s daughterLeah Isadora Behn (17), she has become a style icon and role model for many young Norwegian girls via her social media accounts, as well as in the Viaplay series ‘Power Women Norge’.
– We have a close bond
We have seen above that she is aware of her role by choosing Norwegian designand now it seems she too is striking a blow for reuse.
When the princess’s daughter posted photos of what looks like New Year’s Eve to her @leah.behn Instagram account, someone noticed the sparkly top she was wearing. She pretends to be Queen Sonjas (85)!
It was the royal fan account @royalfavourites that first noticed the reuse and writes that Leah has been starting the new year in her grandmother Queen Sonja’s shirt since the early 2000s.
The queen used the gray blouse, among others, during a state visit to Brazil in 2003. In other words, she is at least 20 years old.
Pioneer in recycling
Queen Sonja is known as the Recycling Queen and has obviously passed on the eco-friendly attitude to the rest of the family.
– We grew up having to wear dresses several times, and no one else in my circle actually did. We sewed the dresses so you can wear them again and again. I think I have dresses that have been redone three or four times, that I still have, and that are maybe 30 years old, said Princess Märtha Louise (51) KK.
We have seen Princess Märtha Louise several times in her mother’s clothes, and Princess Ingrid Alexandra (18) use almost exclusively her mother’s clothes in official contexts.
When Ingrid’s Headship Day was celebrated last year, the entire royal family showed up reuse. And according to Märtha, it must have been her mother, the recycling queen, who took the lead:
– So, on this specific occasion, we were simply wondering what to wear for Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s 18th birthday. And then Mommy said it would be nice if some of us would like to wear some of her old clothes. We all thought it would be cute, and then the dresses were found, she told KK.
While Märtha and two of the daughters were dressed in Sonja’s clothes this festive night, Leah chose to borrow a dress from her mother’s wardrobe.
She inherited her interest in fashion from her grandmother
In the aforementioned interview with KK, Princess Märtha Louise also mentions that her daughter Leah has been interested in fashion since she was little. And that she, as a mother, initially found it difficult to know how to meet a child so interested in clothes and fashion.
Mysterious prom date revealed
But even if mum Märtha doesn’t share the interest to the same extent, Leah obviously had a good sparring partner in grandma Sonja! She simply inherited her interest in fashion, and now she also inherits the goodies from the queen’s wardrobe.
The Queen is known for her formidable sense of style, something she herself picked up from her childhood home. Her father ran one of the capital’s most popular clothing stores and the plan was that Sonja would eventually contribute there. That’s why she also chose to train in costume and sewing.
As is known, her career path has taken a completely different direction, but there is no doubt that her knowledge of fashion and design has come in handy in real work.
