Polish representatives ran out to warm up in T-shirts with images of “Krycha” and “Szczena”.
Grzegorz Krychowiak played in a hundred matches for the Polish national team, Wojciech Szczęsny played for the senior team 84 times.
Just before the match at the PGE National Stadium, which started at 8:45 p.m., Szczęsny and Krychowiak received their T-shirts, framed in a special frame, from the president of the Polish Football Association, Cezary Kulesza.
“Thank you!” – the fans chanted, and after several dozen seconds of loud applause, both players left the pitch.
At the end of August, shortly after parting ways with Juventus Turin, Szczęsny announced his retirement. Although he retired from football for just over a month and recently signed a contract with Barcelona, the national team is no longer an issue for him. Just like for Krychowiak, who announced his decision over a year ago.
