- Italy tied in Florence with Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Edin Dżeko opened the result of the competition, and Stefano Sensi led to the equalization
- Both teams fight in one group with the Polish national team
In the first quarter of an hour the hosts created three good opportunities to open the score. Ibrahim Sehic tried to scare Stefano Sensi, Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Chies, but all three were far from seriously threatening the Bosnian. It was similar in the 17th minute, when Insigne again directed the ball from the free kick over the crossbar.
Ten minutes later, the first shot was fired by visitors. Its author was Edin Visca, who, however, hit high above the goal of Gianluigi Donnarumma. In response, the Italians made two more attempts. First, Andrea Belotti’s shot was saved by Sehić, and then Nicolo Barella hit the target from a distance.
Shortly after switching sides, both teams hit the posts. First, Armin Hać missed, and then Insigne. In the 57th minute, however, a goal was finally scored. After a corner cross, the ball landed in the Italians’ penalty area, where after a few passes it hit Edina Dżeko’s feet, who took his team to an unexpected lead.
The Bosnians did not have the opportunity to enjoy the favorable result for too long, because ten minutes later the hosts managed to equalize. The play from the left flank by Insigne was used by Sensi, after which the ball rebounded and fell into the net of completely helpless Sehic.
The equalizing goal gave the Italians a boost, who a moment later had two more good goals for goals. First, the Bosniak goalkeeper brilliantly defended Alessandro Florenzi’s attempt, and then Nicolo Zaniolo, who was brought onto the pitch, banged next to the goal. In response, Donnarumma had to intervene after hitting Visc.
At the very end, Ciro Immobile and Muhamed Besić had their chances. Both the Italian and Bosnian, however, failed to change the fate of the competition. Francesco Acerbi was still scoring in the added time, but the result also remained unchanged and the game at Stadio Artemio Franchi ended with the points split.
