CONAKRY- This is the big surprise of these quarter-finals of the first edition of the 2023 League Cup. Bonfi’s FC Renaissance created a huge sensation by eliminating Hafia FC, contenders for the title. This Sunday, during the match between the two teams at the September 28 stadium, the KPC club was eliminated on penalties (5-4), after a 0-0 draw at the end of regulation time.
While Hafia FC has been on a good dynamic this season since the signing of coach Casimir Jagiello, the club chaired by Kerfalla Camara KPC has already been ejected from this League Cup. The Hafia will therefore not see a coronation in this competition. It should be noted that since KPC took control of Babata in 2013, the club has won only one trophy in 2017 (national cup). Since then, it’s been a total hassle despite the colossal investment of the Guinean businessman. The championship is still playable and Hafia, only 5 points behind Horoya, can still dream of a title.
