League best player Holeš: I feel like I’m done. We still absorb disappointment. A foreigner attracts him, but …

Would you trade this victory in the poll for a title?

Definitely. The price would have taken me far better if we had the title. This one is bitter. But I’m still happy for this award. I respect him, especially when the best player is chosen by league coaches and captains.

Were you surprised that you became the best player in the league in a season when you didn’t win the championship with Slavia?

Yeah, surprised. We don’t have a title and I’m not that strong on the pitch either. I don’t have as many goals and assists this season as I did last year.

Have you been sick of second place disappointment?

We’re still absorbing it. I have it in my head all the time. When I go to sleep, I wonder what if. It will take some time to get it out of my head.

Why didn’t you get the title?

I don’t think defensive activity worked so well for us. We got enough goals. When we led, we collected and eventually drew. We did not manage the match at 1: 0 like last season. We also did not manage mutual matches with Pilsen in the spring, we led in both, but we drew twice.

Have you figured out what will happen in the summer? Haven’t you thought about going abroad?

Not really. I only deal with Slavia: when will I have a holiday, when will we leave for the camp, preparation plan and other things.

Would you be tempted to try the station elsewhere?

I make no secret of the fact that I would like to try one of the best competitions. But I’m a realist, I know I’m old. Somehow I don’t think about it.

Slavia will be missing from the Champions League next season. How can this affect the mood in the team?

Of course, we all wanted to bring the Champions League back to Eden, but unfortunately we won’t have that opportunity. But we are in the preliminary round of the Conference League and we know that the final of this competition is in Eden. We will do our best to advance to the core group of the Conference League. That is a clear goal.

And do you already dream of the finals in Eden?

Somehow we didn’t deal with it. I told myself that if we were to play for the Conference League, it would be nice to advance to the spring battles. This spring we came across a strong Feyenoord. I believe that if we beat him, we would get to the finals. The final is such a dream, but I don’t think it’s anything unrealistic.

But the season is not over for you yet, the national team will have four matches in the League of Nations in June. What do you call it?

It’s a little unfortunate. After the season, I’m really physically fit, I feel it in the last matches. It’s not like that, I don’t feel well after the matches, I have various muscle problems. I would definitely welcome a longer vacation. But that’s the way it is. We have to come to terms with that.

Is it in the game that you might miss part of the event?

I don’t know. We haven’t talked about it yet, we focused on the end of the season. We will see.

A year ago, you had a short break after the European Championships. Do you feel that the busy program and short holidays are catching up with you?

It certainly has an effect. I would welcome a long leave to relax the body. After all, I’m not the youngest anymore. I feel like I’m done. No wonder there were a lot of matches and I didn’t have much time off after the European Championship.

Don’t you have problems with motivation?

Not that. I think I can prepare for every match. I enjoy it, especially when people go to the stadiums again. Soccer is a nice game. I’m happy for every match.
