The usual inflammatory process is necessary for a person: we know that if it continues, it means that the body is fighting disease and healing wounds. If inflammation appears, it means that our immune system has detected an “enemy” and is trying to get rid of it: this is normal and correct.
But there is chronic inflammation: prolonged, slow, which can last for years. Joint diseases, allergic reactions, diabetes, even oncology are all indirect consequences of this inflammation. It can damage cellular DNAand this leads to cancer. It also increases insulin resistance, causes joint pain and also contributes to increasing the amount of cholesterol plaques in the arteries, and this is the risk of blood clots and cardiovascular disease.
That said, there are a number of foods that have been shown to increase the risk of inflammation. Of course, they are just one link in the chain that triggers disease, there are other factors. However, by limiting yourself to junk food, you can avoid serious chronic diseases.
Sweets
Products with high in sugar – cakes, cookies, sweets – they can cause inflammation in two ways. First, it stimulates the production of fatty acids in the liver.
When the body digests these fatty acids, compounds are formed that can cause inflammation.
Secondly, the sweets cause the body to produce more insulin. This can be a problem because of insulin
“Fat cells, in turn, can produce chemicals in the body that lead to inflammation,” says Diane Javelli, a clinical nutritionist at the University of Washington Medical Center.
