“Leading Employees in Latvia: Confronting the Burnout Pandemic”

Burnout of leading employees in companies and state institutions in Latvia is currently a very common problem, moreover, people often bring themselves to this state, leadership expert Katrīna Ošlej describes the alarming picture. She encourages leaders to be able to lower the demands placed on themselves and to remember to take care of themselves as well – their bodies, relationships with close people, spiritual development.

Managers tend to set unrealistic expectations, both of themselves and of others. But such perfectionism can result in serious health problems. Even the most perfect company is not worth it, emphasizes the expert.

At the same time, burnout also prompts you to question your priorities in life. Excessive dedication to work can mask the fact that a person actually feels very lonely in private life.

“Delfi Bizness” invited Katrina Oshley to a conversation before next week’s conference “Novatore Impact Summit”, where she will talk about developing leadership.

Human challenges

When it comes to the personal challenges faced by managers in Latvia (managers and entrepreneurs of various levels of companies and institutions), Ošleja singles out burnout as the main one, adding that it is nothing new, as it has been relevant for several years. “Nearly eighty percent of my executive clients are burned out to some degree. It’s really very common, like a pandemic,” she describes.
