Leader of ‘Boets’ Association Reveals Illegal Monitoring and Wiretapping by State

The leader of the “Boets” association, Georgi Georgiev, showed documents from which it is clear that he was illegally monitored and eavesdropped for at least 4 months, and that this is officially recognized by the state.

In front of the Courthouse in Sofia and in the presence of his lawyer Metodi Lalov, he presented a notification from the National Bureau for the Control of Special Intelligence Means dated August 3, 2023. With the document, Georgiev was informed that he was illegally wiretapped and monitored in the period of July 22, 2020 – November 22, 2020. This was done at the request of the now-closed specialized prosecutor’s office and with the permission of the now-closed specialized criminal court. The bureau states that the illegality of the SRS used against Georgiev lies in the fact that the request lacks any data and evidence of the crime for which the wiretapping and surveillance permissions were requested and obtained.

The leader of “Boets” also showed documents from the operational development of the State Agency “Technical Operations” (DATO), which is under the code “BOECA”. From it it became clear, for example, that Georgiev’s conversations with journalists were tapped, including twice with people from France Press, as well as from “Bivol” and “Bird”. He pointed to a period in which he had 12 conversations, but the wiretapping operative only downloaded and analyzed 5, all of which were with journalists.

From the development it is clear that his phones, applications, e-mails are controlled. Georgiev announced that he notified the hundreds of people he spoke to during that period to tell them that they, too, had been subject to illegal wiretapping. “Among them are also party leaders such as Hristo Ivanov and Ivaylo Mirchev,” said Georgiev. Among his controlled communications are those with diplomats from 5 embassies and with his lawyers.

He also talked about a document from an overheard conversation between him and the journalist Luba Kulesič, in which they agreed on his participation in her show. the Turkish Stream gas pipeline, how he was going to hold actions, pitch tents, etc.

“Within 15 days, we will file a claim for compensation for the damages caused by the unlawful use of SRS against Georgiev,” announced his lawyer Metodi Lalov. “Unfortunately, taxpayers will pay for the illegal actions of the then rulers,” he added. During this period, the last government of Boyko Borisov ruled.
