It has become a must in the cultural life of Nantes, the Voyage à Nantes revealed, this Tuesday, May 23, its programming for the summer of 2023.
The Voyage team has decided to place this year under the sign of sculpture, with in particular a creation by the Chinese sculptor Xu Zhen, which will take center stage in the rue d’Orléans.
The artist has recreated 19 mythical Western sculptures, from Jesus to Athena to the Statue of Liberty, all on a slightly different level that allows the statue to evolve depending on the viewer’s point of view.
Jean Blaise, artistic director of Le Voyage à Nantes, also mentioned the collaboration with Olivier Texier, a comic strip artist from Nantes who will try to bring back to life sculptures well known to the people of Nantes.
We give freedom to these statues who sleep upright and who represent our city.

The draftsman therefore created sketches of four Nantes statues, including that of General Cambronne, in more relaxed positions than those we know of them.
He will be accompanied by a troupe of sculptors to make this project a reality and “to release Generals Cambronne and Melinet from their martial posture.”
The sculptor Philippe Ramette will also return to collaborate with Voyage à Nantes, after his “Praise of the side step”place de Bouffay, this summer it will offer a “praise of displacement”with a statue that should move each night.
There will be a total of 80 stages on the famous green line of Voyage à Nantes, and 21 new features on the route, including seven places that will be taken over for the very first time. You can find the complete program below or by clicking on this link.
Le Voyage à Nantes 2023, from July 1 to September 3. 80 stages spread over the 22 kilometers of the green line.
