I knew I would get there at least once in my career. » It was he who sold the winning Millionaire ticket, this Monday, October 2 in the morning, to a loyal Totem customer. “It’s all the more pleasing because she’s from Villeneuve-sur-Lot,” adds the manager while emphasizing that he must keep the identity of the lucky winner secret. “All I can tell you is that she is in the senior age group. »
Machine that glitches
And that she almost missed out on her winnings…. Accustomed to scratching every week, and until now unlucky, she was still convinced, that Monday morning, of having lost her money, i.e. 10 euros. “She handed me the ticket without conviction. I put it through the machine. It was buggy,” says Eric Sauzéat, who quickly understood why. “His earnings exceeded 30,000 euros. This is the maximum amount that we, tobacconists, are authorized to pay to our winners. » Then, he was as surprised as his client when discovering that she had won the jackpot, a one in 1.5 million chance. “The rest is no longer up to us. It’s La Française des jeux which is taking over,” adds the boss of Totem.
Indeed, the Villeneuvoise will be invited to go to Paris or Périgueux to symbolically receive the check for one million from the FDJ. A precedent before the courts
The affair started on July 31, 2011 in the heart of the tobacco bar l’Ecrevisse, rue des Cieutat. This summer day, the owner of the establishment, Cheik Guendouzi, lends a thirty-year-old friend, Messaoud Boudissa, 2 euros to play L’Amigo, a drawing game. The latter wins the sum of one million euros… and does not want to share his winnings, claiming that he has never borrowed money in his life… A case which ends up in court two and a half years later late. The Agen Court of Appeal ended up agreeing with the owner of L’Écrevisse. The latter therefore received the 500,000 euros, blocked until then as a precautionary measure by the courts, a few days before Christmas 2013.
