Le Somail: first love, always love

It is a love story as only life and its mysteries sometimes have in store for us and which we enjoy discovering during this Valentine’s Day. Such is the astonishing journey which brought together at Somail, Dany and Bernard. We are in the fifties and sixties in Narbonne in the Razimbaud district.

From the top of her 12 years old, little Dany has eyes only for the handsome Bernard whom she observes through the window while he is cycling down the building.

Then, it is the solemn communion that they will make together at Notre-Dame-des-Champs. But the budding love of these two children will be tarnished by the professional departure of Dany’s dad for Toulon. Employed at the Saint Louis company in Narbonne, he also takes care of the Le Kursaal cinema, as a projectionist operator with his wife who is an opener.

A heartbreak for Dany when she understands that she will never see Bernard again. A few years later, another family move will bring her to Moissac where she will get married and have two children.

For his part, Bernard married in Narbonne and also had two children. After the strikes of May 1968, he left the Egretier company and initially joined the SNCF in Grenoble, which he left to create his own company, manufacturing doors, shutters, etc. After thirty years spent in Grenoble, in 1998 he built his house in Somail and set up a branch of his company in Narbonne “ Closures Automatismes du Languedoc “. Nothing destined them to meet again. But who forgets his first love? ? Certainly not Dany who, when she learns that following the vagaries of life, Bernard just like her, finds himself single, decides to reconnect.

Love doing the rest, it is therefore, fifty years later, in 2008, that they finally unite their destiny, thus making their first children’s dream come true. Well received at Somail, Dany, intermittent in the show, took over the chairmanship of the festival committee. Well known as the artist of “ Glitter fairy “, it took no less to qualify this story as a fairy tale, with or without a magic wand !
