Because the approach of the end of the year holidays is not always easy for everyone. Because Christmas resonates for some as a loneliness felt even more strongly. Because December 24 is a source of anguish for the poorest.
For all these reasons, “Le Nouvelliste” offers a “live solidarity” Monday, December 14 on the Facebook page of the newspaper. Three mutual aid associations from Valais will discuss their mission live to help Valaisans in difficulty, an even more important mission in these times of Advent 2020 shaken by the coronavirus and its strong human consequences.
The solidarity operation will take place from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. on the Nouvelliste Facebook page, live. Each association will have 15 minutes to introduce themselves and explain their actions.
Help for children and adults
At 12 noon, it will be the turn of “SOS Enfants de chez nous”. This association is active all year round with children living in Valais, but it organizes a specific fundraising day in December, each year. This annual meeting will take place on Wednesday December 16, live on Rhône FM, in collaboration with “Le Nouvelliste”. All day long, people will be able to make a donation by calling 027 327 20 31. A way of allowing each child in the canton to have a Christmas present.
At 12:15, it’s time for “Christmas Box”. This initiative was born from the idea of the imagination of two Valaisans, Gauthier Tschopp and Martin Grand, who wanted to help the most disadvantaged at Christmas. Donors are invited to prepare a box with provisions and gifts, as well as a greeting card. It is then sufficient to bring these boxes to one of the collection points shown on the site internet de «Christmas Box».
At 12:30 p.m., it will be the turn ofEmmaus Sion to speak. Its director Vincent Proton will explain the mission of this world institution born from the imagination of Abbé Pierre. Emmaüs Sion is not only a flea market where customers can buy items at low prices, it is also a place that welcomes the battered ones of life. Emmaus “compagons” participate in the community to keep the store alive (collection, delivery, sorting, shelf management, etc.). During Christmas time, the Valais association is well placed to see how people in precarious situations are even more alone.
To get to know each of these associations better, meet at noon on Monday on the “Nouvelliste” Facebook page.
