No team – while waiting for Sochaux to play its two games behind – managed to win during the first two days of the National Championship. On the way to achieving this fine performance, Le Mans cracked in the second half against a generally dominating Dijon team (1-1).
Everything had however started well for the Sarthois, the only goal of the first period having been scored against his camp by the Dijon defender Daniel Congré (43rd). The former Toulouse and Montpellier player extended a free kick from Yoann Le Méhauté into the back of the net. But, cut into the surface, the Dijonnais Mohamed Ben Fredj transformed a penalty (68th).
Dijon lacked realism
At the very end of the game, Walid Nassi missed a final – huge – opportunity for Dijon, crossing his shot too much. If the Manceaux may regret not having been able to maintain their advantage, the Dijonnais lacked realism. Le Mans is in the lead, tied on points with Martigues and Villefranche.
In this Championship where a third of the 18 teams will be relegated, 8 teams have 2 points or less: Dijon, Rouen, Nîmes, Nancy, Épinal, Sochaux (which has not yet played), Versailles (only one match played) and Marignane Gignac.
