“Le Devoir d’Agir and La Tour de Léandre Offer a Heartwarming Day to Migrant Children – Lorraine Republican”

The association Le Devoir d’Agir and the restaurant La Tour de Léandre de Woippy offered a great day to 58 children of migrants welcomed in Amli homes (Support, well-being and housing for isolated people) in Metz. For the two partners in this project, doing humanitarian work is obvious.

The Lorraine Republican

Invited by Mehmet Ali Yolci, manager of the restaurant La Tour de Léandre in Woippy, 58 children from Amli homes (Support, well-being and housing for isolated people) from the streets of Blida and Allies sat down to eat at the sign, route of Thionville. The day was orchestrated by the restaurateur and by Rachida Gacem, sector manager of the association Le Devoir d’Agir de Moselle and Meurthe-et-Moselle.

For these two partners, it was a question of welcoming children of migrants between the ages of 4 and 12, of all origins and faiths. The goal: to bring them a little happiness and hope in a life full of worries and uncertainties.

Nuggets, toys and makeup

In a setting decorated with dozens of multicolored balloons, Mehmet Ali Yolci offered chicken nuggets, fries, drinks and a small toy to each of his guests. For its part, Le Devoir d’Agir donated snacks and bags of sweets. Two mascots and a clown provided entertainment. A volunteer from Amli offered a make-up workshop that was very popular with little girls.

“Their smile keeps me going”

Throughout this exceptional day, Mehmet Ali Yolci, Rachida Gacem, the restaurant staff, the manager of the rue des Alliés hostel and six volunteers from Amli put themselves at the service of the children, who did not shun their pleasure. “Their smile keeps me going,” the manager said. “With the children, I would like to go even further in the humanitarian cause, to show them that their origins and their religions are not obstacles to living together. There is so much misery around us that we cannot remain insensitive. So I want to continue. At each Muslim holiday, I will organize an event aimed at bringing together children who live in precariousness, whoever they are”.

It should be noted that the municipality of Woippy has provided Amli with a nine-seater minibus to transport the children of Blida.
