Or at least one announces his unavailability in order to release the slot for another possible donor. This still represents 10% of the available places. This was emphasized during the general meeting of the Amicale du Creusot.
This is a black point underlined during the General Assembly of the Association for Voluntary Blood Donation of Creusot and the Surroundings which was held in the Guynemer room on Friday evening in front of around thirty members.
Alongside President Michelle Biccaï, there were Evelyne Couillerot, 1st deputy to the municipality of Le Creusot and departmental councillor, Danièle Picard, deputy delegate for associative life, Philippe Pigeau, president of the Burgundy Committee, André Darque, vice president of the Basin sector Minier, Guy Arnoud, President of the WHO and the elected representatives of neighboring municipalities.
During 2021, 27 collections were organised, including 16 in town, 3 in schools and 8 in businesses. In detail, 6 at Le Creusot, including 4 at the Alto auditorium and 2 at Saint-Henri, 7 at the C2 at Torcy, including the promotional collection “My blood for others” with the Rotary Club at Le Creusot and 3 at Le Breuil.
Corporate donations concerned Safran (1), Industeel Framatome (3), Thermodyn (1), Alstom (1), Municipalities and CUCM (2). 1,910 people were welcomed, that’s 79 more than in 2020, including 172 new donors. The percentage of new donors is highest at Lycée Léon Blum (56%) and at IUT (45%). A special collection took place on July 2, the day of the arrival of the Tour de France in Le Creusot.
A TV screen had been installed in the snack room so that donors could follow the arrival live. The “My blood for others” collection organized on September 1 at C2 in partnership with Rotary was a resounding success, with in particular a great promotional campaign at Géant Casino and a hot meal at snack time.
In terms of actions carried out in 2021, the ADSB participated in the vaccination campaign, taking care of reception and disinfection at the Alto at the start of the year.
Promotional actions are obviously essential to recruit new donors. They consist of the distribution of flyers, but also with participation in awareness days at Association Day at the Jean Garnier complex on September 4 and at the Forum des Associations de Torcy at C2 on September 18. These two days made it possible to welcome new donors as well as long-time donors who had no longer made this gesture. The graduation ceremony for the years 2020 and 2021 took place on March 11 at the Grand Salon de l’Hôtel de Ville where it was a great success.
Among the activities planned this year, we can mention the gourmet hike on May 15 in Uchon with Rotary for the event collection “My blood for others” on September 16 at Alto, the departmental congress in Gueugnon on June 25 and the national congress in Albi from May 25 to 28.
In conclusion, this year was again troubled by the pandemic. If collection by appointment allows better management of sanitary conditions, it often slows down the flow of donors.
On the other hand, taking into account people coming without an appointment still poses a problem, even if the EFS has been more open this year. Collections at the IUT and in certain companies were able to resume and the end of strict protocols in March 2022 made it possible to find happy donors. And even if the volunteers did not drop the mask, the smiles showed through underneath.
“My wishes also go to the arrival of new volunteers, it is up to us to know how to pass on the baton, it will be a great challenge for our future, let us know how to learn from these difficult years”, concludes Michelle Biccaï.
