A boil water advisory has been issued for the borough of Saint-Hubert and a large portion of the Vieux-Longueuil borough, as well as for Boucherville and Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville.

The interactive map of the city shows the area affected by the notice. In the Vieux-Longueuil district, only the sector served by the Mario-Petrone plant is spared.

“The notice is issued due to a drop in pressure following a break caused by the power outage,” the City wrote on Facebook on the night of Friday to Saturday.

It is recommended to boil water for at least one minute before consuming it, and for a minimum of 24 hours.

Around 12:30 a.m., the City had also advised that some areas were without running water.

Critiques

On Facebook, disgruntled Internet users say they received an automatic call from the City at 2:50 a.m. to notify them of the boil water advisory.

“Colleagues have been on the ground since the beginning of the day. The work will continue all night. They will continue to crisscross the territory. An emergency unit is also in place,” wrote Longueuil.

A post followed by many comments that 311, suggested for reporting problems such as overflows and sewer backups, was no longer working.

Several people say they found themselves with a flooded basement or called 311 because the water level was rising in the street.

In response to a citizen who, unlike many Internet users critical of the City’s communications, thanked Longueuil for being on the lookout, the City published this photo of the team at work, at 3 a.m. Saturday morning. (Photo: Facebook Ville de Longueuil)

Early Friday evening, the Longueuil Fire Department confirmed that it was in high demand due to sewer backups and various breakages caused by heavy rain. A pace that likely did not slow down during the night.
