The 30th edition of the Tour Auto Optic 2000, part of Paris on Tuesday, made its traditional stage at the Circuit Paul Ricard on Saturday before reaching the finish line in Nice.
After crossing the Hexagon started in the capital, – 1930 km in total on the most beautiful roads in France -, and stages in Beaune, Aix-les Bains, Valence and Nîmes and on the circuits of Dijon-Prenois, Bresse and Lédenon, the Tour Auto competitors (222 at the start) joined the South of France on Saturday for the final event.
Led by the illustrious opener, the Finnish rally driver Ari Vatanen, the collectibles made their appearance this morning on the Circuit Paul Ricard from 9:30 am. The first arrivals belonged to the regularity category, the objective of which is to ride at your own pace while getting as close as possible to a reference time established under the green flag regime. In the competition category, the chronometer acts as a referee; To win, you have to accumulate the best times during specials on circuits or closed roads.
Among the most noticed cars of the various grids: a Matra 350 with V12 engine victorious of the Tour de France automobile in 1970, Ferrari 250 GT SWB and Lusso, Jaguar MkII.
While fans of beautiful old timers were able to admire them in action from the Xtrem Park grandstand, the competitors left at the beginning of the afternoon for the country of Nice, to discover the beautiful roads of the Côte d ‘ Azure.
