LD STANDING SLAMS THE DOOR OF THE KHALIFA PRESIDENT COALITION

(SenePlus) – The LD Debout party announced its withdrawal from the Khalifa President coalition, as the legislative elections of November 17, 2024 approach. This decision, taken during a meeting of the National Executive Secretariat (SEN) on October 1, marks a clear break with the new inter-coalition formed around major political figures such as Macky Sall, Karim Wade, Amadou Ba and Idrissa Seck.

The press release, signed by Secretary General Pape Sarr, does not mince its words with regard to the old regime. LD Debout accuses Macky Sall’s administration of having plunged Senegal into a critical situation, citing a “democratic setback”, “poor management” and a “deprivation of individual freedoms”. The party goes so far as to describe Macky Sall’s reign as “the worst regime” the country has ever known.

This decision is a continuation of past actions by LD Debout, which claims to have participated in various struggle platforms such as AAR LI NU BOKK and F24 to obtain the departure of Macky Sall. The party is now calling on its activists and supporters to “block the road to these predators who have bankrupted our country, attacked our democracy, murdered our children, brothers and sisters”.

While awaiting a final decision from the Political Bureau concerning its position regarding the next elections, LD Debout urges its members to continue the work of raising awareness among the populations. The stated objective is to build an “active citizenship in the exclusive service of a Senegal of justice, peace and prosperity”.
