The Italian football club Lazio Rome has officially confirmed Mauriz Sarri’s appointment as coach.
“Lazio announces that Maurizio Sarri has become the new coach,” the dpa agency quotes a roman statement.
The club had previously hinted at Sarri’s involvement in an unusual way on the social network Twitter. The tweet consisted of a odemodži´ with a cigarette sign, a club, a tracksuit and a bank.
Sarri, 60, who last led Juventus Turin (2019-2020), is an avid smoker and has worked for a bank in the past. Lazio started looking for a new coach after the contract with the sixth team of last year’s Serie A was not extended by Simone Inzaghi.
The Italian media reported that Lazio’s management had agreed on a two-year contract with Sarri.
