Lazio president mocks Dybala’s grand introduction in Rome

Jakarta

President Lazio Claudio Lotito not impressed about joining Paulo Dybala to a city rival club, AS Roma. He even satirized the Argentine striker.

Dybala, who has a contract with Roma until 2025, was introduced in a grand event on Tuesday (26/7). Thousands of Giallorossi supporters came to the Palazzo della Civiltà. This event was also broadcast live and watched by more than 50 thousand people.

The presence of La Joya seems to confirm Roma’s ambition to rise to the top of the Italian League, after winning the Europa Conference League last season. The 29-year-old player is believed to be able to make the Giallorossi go up in class.

But Lotito saw it as normal. He even said that Dybala’s arrival was only to make Panini sticker lovers happy, because they could add a new collection to their picture album.

“I didn’t watch Dybala’s introduction in Rome, and his arrival didn’t have any effect on me. I’m not selling dreams, but reality. We don’t collect Panini stickers, we don’t care,” Lotito said, quoted by Football Italia.

“Lotito brings results. In fact, our title collection in recent years has only lost to Juventus. After all, supporters Lazio always commenting even if we won the trophy.”

“Whether Roma’s move in the transfer market is sexy news, I don’t know. Lazio already signed six new players, and maybe we will bring in a few more.”

“I do not do anything on the basis of aesthetics. I am not a supporter who becomes president, but the president who becomes a fan, and I have to create conditions so that this club has a stronger future,” he explained.

If you only count the number of trophies without assessing the level of tournament prestige, Lazio’s achievements over the last 10 years in Italy have only lost to Juventus, who had won Serie A for nine consecutive seasons.

The Biancoceleste won 4 trophies, namely 2 Coppa Italia (2013, 2019) and 2 Italian Super Cups (2017, 2019). That number is more than Inter Milan (3 trophies), Napoli (3 trophies), AC Milan (2 trophies), and Roma (1 trophy).

Even so, there is an Italian League title in the Milan and Inter trophy collections, while Roma won a European level trophy, namely the UEFA Conference League. Lazio himself has never won the Scudetto again since he last won it in 2000 ago.
