Fort Worth, Texas.- At a press conference, Don Faul, CEO of CrossFit confirmed the death of Lazar Dukicparticipant of the 2024 CrossFit Games.
Last Thursday, August 8, Lazar Dukic was found dead during a swimming test in Marine Creek Lake in Fort Worth.
“CrossFit is deeply saddened by the passing of one of its athletes; we are doing everything in our power to assist the family during this difficult time. We are cooperating with authorities in the investigation,” Faul said.
Due to the death of Lazar Dukic, the activities for that day were cancelled.
CrossFit Games were not cancelled
Later, on social media, CrossFit Games They announced that despite the news, they decided to “move on” in order to pay tribute to Dukic.
Lazar was much more than an athlete. He was a son, a brother and a friend to virtually everyone he met. Fiercely competitive, incurably cheerful and extraordinarily kind, Lazar was the sunshine in any room he was in,” they detailed.
This weekend, several athletes decided to pay tribute to Dukic and CrossFit Games assured that “Lazar’s legacy will be remembered forever.”
The athlete from Serbia was 28 years old and had been participating in the games since 2021.
