The construction of the exhibition hall in the Bronx district is to be completed in 2024 and will cost around 80 million dolar (about 65 million euros). “Hip-hop is one of the things that made my life meaningful,” said LL Cool J at the groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday (local time).

Hip-Hop is said to have originated in the Bronx in the 1970s, when musicians like DJ Kool Herc didn’t play the entire songs on their records, but only the instrumental parts between the vocals – then there was spoken chanting. Today hip-hop in all its forms is one of the most widespread styles of music.
