The former president of the Xunta Fernando González Laxe, Professor Santiago Lago, the Vice Governor of the Council of Europe Development Bank or positions of companies such as Inditex and Reganosa, among others, are among the experts selected to form part of the economic commission that will advise the Galician Government to reduce the impact of the crisis caused by Covid-19.
The president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, sent a letter to each of them to request their participation in this body, which will meet for the first time next week.
“We are aware of the need to take the initiative to reactivate the economy and to go ahead to be prepared to face a difficult recovery when the health situation is no longer extraordinary,” he said in the text.
That is why the Galician government decided to promote this commission of experts, approved in Board of Directors on April 3, to have adequate advice and define the strategies to follow so that the community is prepared for economic recovery and to face the consequences of the health situation.
“We want to have the best,” Feijóo insisted, with the aim that Galicia “be able to face this crisis in the best possible way.”
Among the selected members is Ignacio Fernández Fernández, members of the higher body of Tax Inspectors, professor of Public Facenda and general director of Finance of Inditex.
Also Rosa Sánchez Yebra, pharmacist, civil servant and deputy governor of the Development Bank of the Council of Europe, as well as former secretary general of the Treasury and Financial Policy.
Proposals for reactivation
The list also has two representatives of the Galician Economic Forum. Specifically, the professor of the Department of Applied Economics of the University of Vigo Santiago Lago, and Fernando González Laxe, former president of the Xunta and doctor in Economic and Business Sciences.
Along with them will be Emilio Bruquetas Serantes, general manager of Reganosa and member of the Spanish Association of Managers. The committee will also have representation from the Galician Business Circle, the Galician Council of Economists, the Galician Association of Family Business and the Ministries of Finance, Economy, Rural Environment and the Sea.
