Two lawyers who represented former US President Donald Trump resigned on Friday. They say they got up on their own. Their departure followed shortly after Trump was indicted for storing classified documents at his resort.
Attorneys Jim Trusty and John Rowley are also no longer defending the former president in the case of storming the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
“I want to thank Trusty and Rowley for their work. But they had to go up against a very dishonest, corrupt, evil and ‘sick’ group of people, the likes of which we have never seen before,” Trump said on his own social network Truth Social.
He says he will be assisted by lawyer Todd Blanche in the case about the secret documents. Later on, his team of lawyers will be further expanded.
Earlier, important Trump lawyer resigned
The lawyers’ departure follows shortly after Trump was formally indicted. That happened because secret documents were found at his Mar-a-Lago resort in the US state of Florida.
According to Trump, his associate Walt Nauta has also been charged. He allegedly helped Trump move the boxes of documents.
Earlier, an important lawyer for Trump already resigned. Tim Parlatore left in mid-May for “personal reasons”. “It has nothing to do with a lack of confidence in the matter,” he stressed at the time. There are several lawsuits against the former president.
