MIAMI – Morgan & Morgan and Saltz, Mongeluzzi & Bendesky are investigating and exploring possible legal action regarding last week’s collapse of a high-rise condo in Surfside, Florida.
At this time, the firms are speaking with the families of those affected by the tragic incident. Officials indicated that 55 of the 136 apartments at Champlain Towers South Condos on Collins Avenue collapsed during the early hours of Thursday morning. Four people have been confirmed dead, and the fate of 159 others is still unknown.
“The families and individuals affected by this tragedy deserve justice, but now, more than anything, they need answers,” said Morgan & Morgan attorney Rene Rocha.
“We are actively investigating what caused the building to collapse, if there were warning signs beforehand that were missed or ignored, and if the system of building codes and regulations, which is intended to prevent these types of disasters from occurring, failed.
“We are working tirelessly to find answers and we will hold all those responsible for this tragic catastrophe accountable for their actions and omissions to the fullest extent of the law,” he added.
Morgan & Morgan and Saltz, Mongeluzzi & Bendesky, together, have tens of thousands of hours of experience in collapse cases, and are currently co-directing counsel in a lawsuit that arises over the collapse of the Hard Rock Hotel in New Orleans.
The firms have also litigated the FIU bridge collapses, the Market Street Building in Philadelphia, the Tropicana parking lot in Atlantic City, and other building collapse cases.
