The establishment of a parallel diplomacy commission by the Moroccan Bar Association is part of a completely coherent approach, aimed at strengthening the defense of the interests of the Kingdom, in particular with regard to the file of Sahara. According to experts, this initiative is all the more relevant as lawyers, true defenders of the law and guarantors of justice, are ideally positioned to play a key role in this advocacy.
The Moroccan Bar Association recently announced the creation of a parallel diplomacy commission, intended to reaffirm its advocacy role in addition to its resolute commitment to the defense of territorial unity.
The press release published at the end of a meeting of the Association held in the city of Laâyoune, highlighted the internationally recognized economic development of the southern provinces, as well as the initiatives aligned with the royal vision, in particular the Atlantic initiative announced by the Sovereign.
In addition, the document recalled that the southern provinces recorded the highest participation rate in local and legislative elections, thus offering citizens a real opportunity to choose their legitimate representatives in local and national institutions.
On the other hand, the Association reaffirmed that the autonomy initiative constitutes the only viable solution to resolve this artificial conflict, benefiting from the support of the United Nations, the European Union and the international community, while reiterating its commitment to continue to advocate for territorial unity.
In this context, the president of the Club of Lawyers in Morocco, Me Mourad Eladditioni welcomed this initiative. “ Indeed, it is clear that faced with the repeated failures of its political strategy, the Polisario is increasing its legal actions, exploiting the law to try to undermine Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces.“, he explained in a statement to Hespress FR.
For Me Eladditioni, the active involvement of Moroccan lawyers is essential, as defenders of the law and guarantors of justice, who are fully invested in this fight. “ Their legal expertise, their in-depth knowledge of the Moroccan Sahara issue and their patriotic commitment are valuable assets to counter the Polisario maneuvers and defend the superior interests of our nation.“insisted our interlocutor.
He thus underlined that this “parallel diplomacy” commission will aim to coordinate efforts, pool skills and carry out concerted actions on the international legal level. Through this, it will work to make Morocco’s voice resonate and to assert the legitimacy of its primary cause.
« I am convinced that the mobilization of the community of Moroccan lawyers, in support of the efforts deployed by the authorities and civil society, will be a determining factor in the defense of our territorial integrity and the consolidation of our national sovereignty.“, concluded Me Eladditioni.
