The Commission for the Protection of Animal Rights (CPDA) of the Barcelona Bar Association opposes any show or activity that hurts animals.
This is the main thesis defended during the first round table of the IV Congress on animal rights that is held on April 3 and 4 at the Barcelona Bar Association.
“DIn the Commission for the protection of animal rights, we consider unacceptable the celebration in the XXI century of events where there is mistreatment of animals, either in a traditional festival with bulls, correbous, or in the exercise of an activity, such as the circus, where some animals do not meet the minimum conditions to live with dignity “, has affirmed the deputy of the Governing Board responsible for the CPDA, Carmen Valenzuela.
During this first day of the Congress, apart from the holding of traditional festivals both in Catalonia and in the rest of Spain, the animal / people bond was addressed, making known the benefits of the “socialization of animals” and therefore It has invited different project managers, and in this sense, initiatives have been made known where animals work together with minors, the disabled and the elderly in order to help them have a better quality of life.
The IV edition of the Congress of animal rights was inaugurated this afternoon by the dean of the lawyers from Barcelona, Oriol Rusca, who has highlighted “the great work that the Commission for the protection of animal rights of the Barcelona Bar Association has done to equate the regulations of our country with those of other countries such as Germany, where animal rights have been a relevant aspect for years of the society“
The presidential table has also included the institutional coordination commissioner of the Barcelona City Council, Carles Domingo; with the general director of natural environment and biodiversity of the Generalitat, Antoni Trasobares; with the deputy delegate of Social Welfare, public health and consumption of the Diputación de Barcelona; Josep Oliva; with the deputy of the Governing Board responsible for the Commission for the Protection of Animal Rights, Carmen Valenzuela; and with the lawyer and president of the CPDA, Magda Oranich.

The second day of the Congress will serve to address, on the one hand, andThe concept of animal and its normative treatment in the laws, and on the other, civil and criminal liability in the activity of hunting and mistreatment of dogs. It must be taken into account that this round table will present the situation of hunting dogs, where according to data from animal associations, each year about 50,000 specimens are executed or hanged when the hunting season in Spain ends. It will also address who is responsible if protected animals are killed in the exercise of this activity.
