Feyenoord and Dick Advocaat are at odds with each other. The contract of the former Feyenoord coach stated that a bonus is paid when achieving European football. Advocaat succeeded in qualifying for the Conference League. However, according to a Feyenoord spokesperson, the bonus did not apply to this tournament and the money is therefore not paid out. It looks like it will end in a legal battle.
Sports marketer Chris Woerts put the matter to the orange summer from. ”The lawyer does everything by post and at one point he received his salary slip in the letterbox. He opens it and it says he doesn’t get a bonus. Dick thinks: ‘Now I’m being tricked.’ He had achieved European qualification. So Dick calls Feyenoord and they indicate that he is not entitled to it. Then it exploded.”
Then he got really angry. He also received no explanation. Dick has read his contract again and it was just there in black and white. Feyenoord now says that they will only pay it when they have really reached the group stage. Dick does share that bonus with his assistants Cor Pot and John de Wolf. It doesn’t specifically say it has to be the Champions or Europa League. There is European football qualification”, continues Woerts. Dick has now handed it over to a well-known lawyer who does this kind of business. I think Dick has a very strong case. Dick is especially angry at the way in which the Feyenoord lawyer told him that he is not entitled to it. It’s going to be a lawsuit and I’m putting my money on Dick.”
