A lawyer, fined by a court in Palma for drink while drivingattempted to get an employee to take the blame for having been driving at the time of the accident.
In the early hours of August 19, 2018, the lawyer’s car collided with a van parked on C. Despuig in Palma. A police breath test recorded that he was four times over the limit. She maintained that he had not been driving the car. The police did not believe him.
As it happened, the accident was close to where an employee of the law firm lived. The attorney tried to convince the police that the employee had been driving. Again they did not believe him. The story was later repeated at the police headquarters and in the trial court, where the employee finally admitted that he had not been the driver.
The Prosecutor’s Office had accused the employee of simulation of a crime, but the court acquitted him on Friday, since his actions were no criminal. It had all been the lawyer’s idea, but the police never gave him the slightest credit.
