Lawyer Sergio Valenzuela assumed as Legal Director of the UACh – UACh News

On November 9 and by Rectory Resolution, Sergio Valenzuela Mena became the new Legal Director of the Universidad Austral de Chile. The lawyer comes to the position after two years of work in the same unit, attending to the institution’s trials or litigation, as well as advising the Personnel Department in the field of Labor Law and other usual functions of the Legal Department, such as review of agreements, mandates and writings in general.

Valenzuela emphasizes that the Legal Department is made up of a team of lawyers and assures that he assumes his new management role “with a lot of responsibility, but at the same time with enthusiasm because, having worked for a couple of years in the Legal Department, I understand and know perfectly what is required for its proper functioning, the things we have to improve and what we have to advance in.”

On the other hand, he says, he takes on the challenge of leading the Legal Department at the time the University is experiencing and emphasizes that the institution “will require us to be very prepared,” while adding that “we intend to support all units and essentially to the central administration so that it can be protected against legal and/or legal contingencies.”

The lawyer insists that “we are at the service of the university community to legally and preventively safeguard any legal and/or juridical conflict that may arise with respect to the University” and that, personally, he will seek to be a Director open to meeting with those who meet him. require, answer questions or queries and always ready with the Legal Department team to support the University in the matters of its competence.

Sergio Valenzuela

Sergio Valenzuela Mena is a lawyer, with a degree in Legal and Social Sciences from the Universidad Austral de Chile and a Master’s degree in Business Law from the U. Mayor. He has a Diploma in Real Estate Law from the UACh and a Diploma in Labor Law and Labor Procedure from the U. San Sebastián.

Valenzuela has experience in business law, administrative law and litigation in civil and labor matters, as well as corporate matters. Part of her professional career has been at the Quintana Abogados Law Firm and at the Department. Legal Department of the Regional Government of Los Ríos, among other institutions.

The Legal Directorate of the Universidad Austral de Chile is in charge of endorsing the decrees of the Rector’s Office and the other instruments indicated by the internal regulations, representing those that do not comply with the pertinent legal or statutory provisions.

Likewise, it issues legal reports when these are requested by the university authorities and conducts administrative proceedings and investigates and formulates charges in summary proceedings against students who have violated university regulations.

On the other hand, it is responsible for drafting or approving the contracts and agreements entered into by the University in the fulfillment of its purposes, and for intervening in all trials in which the institution participates, regardless of their procedural quality.
