Today that we have seen once again old practices that we thought were forgotten as spying on journalists, calls for pressure from authorities to oppose certain information provided by the media and unfortunately assemblages supported by some of these same media that claim certain truths as their own, is that citizens demand greater transparency in the actions of our institutions and to be able to know, in addition, how their actions and decisions, often taken within four walls, affect thousands of Chileans.
In this sense, being on the verge of experiencing one of the most important political processes in our country, such as the election of the representatives of the Constitutional Convention, is that the lawyer Luis Cuello and candidate for Constituent for the 7th district of the The Valparaíso region requires that Televisión Nacional de Chile have a free reception signal where citizens can follow the sessions and commissions of the Constitutional Convention.
According to Luis Cuello “what citizens demand is a participatory and transparent constituent process. We must facilitate that the debate on the New Constitution reaches all corners of Chile, that Chileans and indigenous peoples are informed of all discussions. Here fundamental decisions will be made for people’s lives ”.
For this reason, Luis Cuello indicated that “we demand that Televisión Nacional de Chile have a digital signal of free reception, where the sessions of the plenary and the commissions of the Constitutional Convention are broadcast. On the one hand, this measure ensures the transparency of the process and, on the other, allows those who live in the regions throughout the country to get involved in the drafting of the New Constitution.
For the lawyer, “this is the time for the state channel to measure up and put itself at the service of democracy and the aspiration of the vast majority to be the protagonist of the transformation of Chile.”
