The Human Rights Commission of the Chamber of Deputies compiled new background on the investigations into the cases of Gustavo Gatica and Fabiola Campillai, who lost their sight due to the actions of the Carabineros, during the social outbreak.
The lawyer from Campillai attended this instance on Monday, Alejandra Arriaza, who related details of the summary made by the police.
The young woman’s representative stated that a few days ago she received an email in which the Carabineros asked to interview the victim, eight months after the attack, when the woman was on her way to work.
In this regard, Arriaza assured that when the attack was registered, Carabineros identified the 17 troops who were at the scene, specifying that two of them are captains.
However, the professional assured that the police institution has omitted information.
The lawyer specified that this morning there were four shots of tear gas bombs. The third hit Fabiola Campillai, damaging her face and eyeballs.
According to Arriaza, the cash that fired the device is a captain of the Fourteenth San Bernardo Police Station, who also has 17 observations on his resume, including warnings and cases of police repression.
Arriaza criticizes impunity
Lawyer Arriaza indicates that she does not understand how there are no sanctions today, considering that until November of last year, the captain who would have fired the third shot did not have a certification to use a shotgun.
