Feyenoord-trainer Dick Advocaat does not understand the timing of the international match period. The Dutch national team will take on Poland and Italy, two weeks before the Eredivisie starts again.
“What I find very problematic is that your players are not there two weeks before the start of the competition”, Advocaat refers to the international match period. In conversation with FOX Sports he indicates that he understands very little of this. “Not only our team, that applies to every club. This is a very strange situation, that you have to miss your players in the final phase of your preparation.”
The lawyer therefore criticizes the decision-making. “Anyone who made that up cannot be a football player,” he concludes. Feyenoord starts the first round of the Eredivisie with an away match against PEC Zwolle. On Saturday 12 September, the ball will roll again at 8 p.m. for the club from Rotterdam.
