Damián Mora Tejada, an illustrious Real Murcia fan – he was subscriber 309 – and a lawyer by profession, has died in Murcia at 65 years of age. Affable, conciliatory and, above all, human person, he has not been able to overcome an operation that he underwent just a few days ago and that has caused his sudden death, when no one expected him and his friends, including Pedro Luis Sáez, were waiting to be able to have a coffee one day and discuss the future of the club of their loves.
Mora, who was a member of Real Murcia since childhood, who went to the field at the hands of his father and grandfather, had three children, Antonio, José and Carmen. But he also left another in the form of a book, made from passion. Its title, ‘Corazón grana. Chronicle of four generations and a centennial ‘came to light in December 2007. In it he reflected all the love of both himself and his family towards a club that he saw in all categories. At an early age he began collecting stickers and photos related to the team. He did not hesitate to travel as far as necessary to get a simple image, such as the day he took the car and went to Cabra, in Córdoba, to visit a fair. He told his wife a white lie, since he told her that he was going to Madrid to do a business. And it is that Damián, Manín for friends, who considered them legion, was like a child when it came to getting objects from the club of his loves. “Maybe it is not politically correct to say that I collect stickers, but I am not the only one,” he said in an interview published in this newspaper in 2010, where he also confessed that he not only had football, since he was also passionate about Bonanza and Tintin The hobby came from his childhood because it was a tradition in the neighborhood of Santa María de Gracia, where he spent his childhood, that the little ones played with cards.
Insolvency administrator
Manín was not only a loyal partner, as he was also key to the entity’s survival during the club’s bankruptcy. He was appointed by the bankruptcy administrator judge, collaborating in a decisive way to save Real Murcia at a key moment in its history.
‘A red book made with the heart‘, my colleague Angela Moreno titled the report she made in 2007 on the occasion of the launch of her book, that makes a pleasant tour through the history of the club and the city. And it is that Manín put all his heart in his work, as he did throughout his life in making others happy, to whom he always gave a smile, like that gift he made to La Opinion and his readers, giving his documentary archive in a disinterested way to be able to elaborate a serial about the lives of footballers who had left their mark and that was published on the occasion of the club’s centenary. For this reason, Damián Mora will always be among us.
