Ricardo Sánchez Reyes Retana, attorney for the former governor of Chihuahua, César Duarte, argued that his client has nothing to return, since he has not stolen anything.
“He has nothing to return because nothing was stolen, he has nothing to repair because nothing was stolen and it is perfectly accredited,” said the lawyer.
In an interview with Azucena Uresti for Formula GroupReyes Retana indicated that The extradition of the former PRI member was not surprising, since they already knew what would happen.
The lawyer explained that his client’s assets did not increase during his term as governor, because before coming to office he was a rancher.
“(The PGR) expertly analyzed the assets of Messrs. Duarte, the properties that César and his family now have, (…) they are the same properties that César inherited when he was young, he has not increased his assets at all,” he explained.
Regarding the indications that he had fled the country after completing his assignment, Reyes Retana explained that Duarte traveled to Texas to treat a spinal injury, product of a helicopter accident.
The United States government handed over to the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) the former governor of Chihuahua, César Duarte, to be placed at the disposal of a judge of that state, who ordered his arrest for his alleged responsibility in the crimes of criminal association and embezzlement for the amount of more than 96 million pesos, committed between 2011 and 2014.
