The case of Liz Varela, with Pompe syndrome, which is an autosomal recessive, serious, progressive and rare genetic disease, was released after the lawyer Alfredo Delgado confirmed to a media outlet that she had already received the anticovid vaccine for your health condition, asthma and allergy.
This fact outraged Varela, as well as his family, for which he posted the following on his Twitter account: “I filed an amparo through the Public Defender’s Office and Judge María F. García de Zuñiga said that I did not present enough evidence . And I have a degenerative disease, I do not walk, I am tracheotomized and connected to a machine to be able to breathe ”.
For his part, Roberto Paredes, Varela’s partner, explained that the amparo was presented with about 50 pages of medical reports of the patient and data on the disease, since it is a not very well known syndrome. “She is in bed 24 hours, with various devices, she has a tracheostomy and every two weeks she goes to the Hospital de Clínicas by ambulance to receive treatment.”
Even so, the Capital Sentencing Court 1 asked the forensic doctor on duty for a report on the patient’s health condition to verify if she is in a situation of vulnerability to Covid-19.
The doctor, almost immediately, responded to the request in whose report indicates that Liz’s state of health “is serious” and “is in a position of vulnerability to Covid-19.” But, the Court also asked for a medical board.
Today, Saturday, the deadline is up and Liz’s family is still waiting for an answer.
“It is essential that we have a protocol for these cases, but here there is no policy at all, there is no health policy, therefore we do not have a health protocol. People with basic illnesses are not a priority for this Government, ”said Roberto Paredes with great indignation.
