A week after the judicial scandal that shook La Plata in which lawyers, judicial officials and even police were implicated for being part of a network of cases, alleged requests for bribes and even keeping homes through trout deeds, yesterday during the Later, a new development emerged regarding one of the detainees: they released the lawyer Juan Manuel Fontana who was detained for the crime of “fraud.”
According to the information revealed by judicial sources, the measure was issued in the early hours of the afternoon by Guarantees Judge Pablo Raele who “in harsh terms gave rise to the defense’s proposal.” In this way, it was indicated that Fontana will return to his home without any type of ambulatory restriction, but will continue to be prosecuted in the criminal case.
The release had been requested by the defense led by lawyers Flavio Gliemmo and Santiago Irisarri.
As reported by EL DIA, the crime of which the lawyer is accused is extorting money from a man detained in a case of gender violence, with the promise of favoring him with the prosecutor who was investigating him so that he can regain his freedom. The prosecutor in the case himself reported the incident after the lawyer’s victim told him the story.
The event in question occurred at the end of May. Fontana would have received from his victim “the sum of -at least 630.00 pesos and 700 dollars-, and the documentation for a gray Peugeot 307 vehicle owned by the detainee’s sister-in-law,” according to information about the case revealed by sources in the case.
Thus, after the complaint, a file was initiated in UFI No. 2 in charge of Betina Lacki. The crime that the lawyer is accused of is fraud under the pretext of alleged remuneration to public officials. The detention had been authorized by the guarantee judge Raele, who yesterday issued his release and also imposed rules of conduct and sworn bond.
“the illicit conduct attributed to Fontana presents an additional disvalue outside of that, in particular because of its abjection, because of the damage caused (in a broad sense), because of the message it harbors in the defendants by transforming a legal and natural act into corrupt of the process, trying to discredit the members of the Judiciary, and above all, denaturalizing the ethics in professional work (given his status as a lawyer), that is, it constitutes a serious fact, the truth is that this alone is not enough to deny the benefit,” he says in a fragment of the resolution presented by the judge.
It is also worth mentioning that the accused lawyer will not be able to contact the complainant who was his assistant and must comply with a series of rules of conduct during the process.

In the other case being processed by the prosecutor’s office headed by Lacki, a police officer, a notary and eight other suspects, including lawyers and officials, are being detained, accused of being part of a gang dedicated to usurping homes in different parts of La Plata and then market them with apocryphal writings.
The arrest of these 10 people was carried out after more than two months of investigation and was carried out by personnel from the Anti-Fraud Division of the Superintendency of Federal Investigations of the Argentine Federal Police (PFA).
