Butzbach (pm). Under the motto “Law4School,” a project day on the topic of “Law on the Internet” recently took place at the Weidigschule Butzbach as part of the prevention program. In addition, a parents’ evening with lots of information is planned for tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Weidig School. The school reports this.

For all grade 7 classes

»Are you on social networks and/or do you use messenger services such as WhatsApp, Discord, Snapchat or Instagram? Can I just forward the profile picture of someone I know? Is it allowed to take a photo of someone and then post it on my Instagram story?” Lawyer Gesa von Schwerin answered many such questions as part of a webinar on the topic of “Law on the Internet”, which all year 7 classes recently took part in attended the Weidig School. The seventh graders learned from the lawyer which rules they have to adhere to when it comes to sending pictures, stickers, videos or other personal content on social media and messenger services.

Von Schwerin presented applicable legal requirements and the resulting civil and criminal consequences in realistic and real-life case studies, in which the students were able to participate directly through live and interactive surveys. Another focus of the webinar was the topics of cyberbullying and cybergrooming. The focus was on raising awareness of the scope of the actions and the damage that is left behind on the victims. Gesa von Schwerin’s webinars have now become an integral part of the Weidig School’s prevention concept because they are consistently rated positively by both the students and the teachers who accompany the webinar. Above all, the new, legal perspective was surprising again this year, so that the subsequent follow-up, prepared by the school social worker Heidi Nieslony and the school’s prevention officer, Stephanie Riebeling, was very entertaining and discussion-friendly. This is what the experts report.

The project day is accompanied by an online parents’ evening, the content of which is coordinated with the webinar, in order to invite the legal guardians to talk to their children and to actively support their children’s “online life”. This parents’ evening will take place tomorrow Wednesday at 7 p.m. All parents have already received the dial-in link for this event via the school parents’ council and are particularly encouraged to take part.
