The Verkhovna Rada adopted a new law on mobilization, and now President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has to sign the document. People’s Deputy of Ukraine and member of the Parliament’s Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Fedir Venislavsky suggested when the new law will come into force.

“The law will come into force the day after it is signed. I think the president will definitely sign the draft law. As I said, almost all legislative amendments were approved by the constitutional majority. The law itself was adopted with a sufficient number of votes. Especially since the position of the president was voiced more than once “, – noted People’s Deputy in an interview with the “Obozrevatel” publication.

At the same time, he noted that the President of Ukraine has no reason not to sign the document, because it was adopted as much as possible in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution.

“I think that this should happen in the very short term. Some of our political opponents have said that they will register a resolution on the prohibition of signing and sending to the president because the issues of military service exemption were not taken into account. If this happens, then first these resolutions must be rejected, then signed by the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and sent to the president for his signature. Therefore, it is difficult to name the terms here, but I think that it will be a very short-term perspective, that is, it will be a maximum of a week – 10 days and the law will be signed,” concluded Venislavskyi.

The law on mobilization – the latest news

The Council adopted the draft law on mobilization as a whole. The decision was supported by 283 people’s deputies.

Before that, the deputies excluded the amendments related to demobilization for the military. The Ministry of Defense explained this by the fact that demobilization is a process that indicates the transition to peacetime.

The Ministry of Defense also believes that the new law will help ensure personnel replenishment and rotation for soldiers who have been fighting for a long time.
