The Marshal of the Sejm, Elżbieta Witek, announced just before 9 p.m. that the draft amendment concerning liability for violating official duties in counteracting the epidemic was withdrawn from the order of Thursday voting. Earlier, Ryszard Terlecki, the head of the PiS club, announced his resignation. “Equality before the law is a key value for our camp” – commented Zbigniew Ziobro on this decision. Earlier, the head of Solidarna Polska announced that his party, a coalition partner of PiS, would not vote in favor of this project in the form in which it was originally presented.

On Wednesday, the second reading of the draft amendment to the covid act, otherwise known as the Act on the Impunity of Officials, was held in the Sejm, the aim of which was to introduce a solution that would not criminalize an act consisting in violation of official duties or other regulations by a person acting to prevent and combat COVID – 19.

Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro announced at a press conference on Thursday that Solidarna Polska will not vote for this project “in the form in which it is presented at the moment”. Earlier, an activist of Solidarity Poland, Deputy Minister of Climate, Jacek Ozdoba, stressed that the law “in its original form is unacceptable”.

Terlecki: we are withdrawing now, we will definitely come back to it
On the same day, the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm and the head of the Law and Justice club announced in the Sejm that the draft amendment to the covid act would be withdrawn. – In this situation, we will withdraw it, because you can see what the votes are like at the moment. We will come back to it for sure – he said, addressing the journalists.

Terlecki later confirmed that a motion would be made at the Seniors’ Convention to remove the draft novel from the voting agenda.

Ziobro: I believe we will not stray from the bold reform agenda
Zbigniew Ziobro thanked the politicians of Law and Justice for this decision on Twitter. “Equality before the law is a key value for our camp. As the United Right, we have a bold plan to reform the state, I believe that we will not deviate from this path,” he wrote.
