Lavrov roser Fox News

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov praised US television channel Fox News for their coverage of Ukraine, writes The Guardian.

It was during an interview on the Russian state-controlled RT network that he praised the right-wing and controversial channel.

– We know the manners and tricks used by the western countries to manipulate the media, we understood a long time ago that there is no such thing as independent western media, said Lavrov, who spoke in English in an interview in the studio on Friday.

– If you take the United States as an example, only Fox News is trying to show an alternative point of view, he says and believes that the West is waging an “information war”.

– If it was an illusion that we could trust the West, this illusion is now completely broken. We have to trust ourselves, says Lavrov.

According to Vanity Fair Russian media regularly show clips of Fox News host Tucker Carlson criticizing the United States and Ukraine, and according to The Guardian, he praised President Vladimir Putin hours before Russia invaded Ukraine almost four weeks ago.

– American salon

In the interview, Lavrov goes especially towards the United States, where he believes that they are trying to create a global community that is American. But Russia will not join this “global village where the sheriff is American,” Lavrov said.

– They want the world to look like an American salon where they decide.

Russia recently introduced a law making it a criminal offense to spread “false information” about the war in Ukraine, which the Russian authorities call a “military special operation.”
