The calls of the Ukrainian authorities to expand the Normandy format are a direct insult to Germany and France. This was announced on Monday, September 6, by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a meeting with the pupils of the Russian Defense Ministry boarding house, RIA Novosti reported.
“When we present facts that cannot be ignored and which are aimed not just at dodging the implementation of the Minsk agreements, but at undermining them, when Ukrainian officials in charge of the settlement process declare that the Minsk agreements are dead and new mediators must be attracted, – Berlin and Paris silently avert their eyes and cannot say anything in response, “Lavrov said.
“And when the same Ukraine, through the lips of its leaders and members of the government, declares that the United States, Great Britain and Poland should be taken as mediators, this is a direct insult to both Berlin and Paris. Is it really incomprehensible?” The Russian minister added.
Recall that Kiev is considering immediately several options for attracting Washington to the Normandy format in Donbass. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his visit to the United States last week.
Earlier, the American State Department said that possible US participation in the Normandy format will not help, since the main problem in this matter is Russia.
